WHEN Phumla went missing on Thursday, her mother thought they would see her again.
But then a day later, Phumla Mthoba (40) was found dead in her boyfriend’s room in Pimville, Soweto.
To make matters worse, it now appears that her abusive boyfriend, who is suspected of her murder, spent the night next to her dead body on the bed!
Her heartbroken mum, Lucy Mthoba (62) said her daughter’s death came as a shock.
Lucy said her daughter had been in the abusive relationship for years.
She said after Phumla went missing, they looked for her everywhere. Her friends told Lucy that they last saw Phumla with her boyfriend.
Then on Friday night, Phumla’s friend came to tell her that her daughter had been murdered and left rotting in the boyfriend’s room on the bed.
“We called the police who accompanied us to the house. My daughter was lying dead on the bed covered with blankets,” she said.
After police questioned the suspect, it was claimed the boyfriend slept on the same bed with Phumla’s body for a night without telling anyone.
Police spokeswoman Constable Thuli Ngwenya said a murder case was opened at Pimville cop shop.
She said the suspect would appear today in the Protea Magistrates Court.
