The two young men, who were friends, were also part of a security team that volunteered to search people coming into theImam Hussein mosque.
Eyewitness reports say the young men intercepted the bomber, who was disguised as a woman, when he tried to enter the main gate, where they were guarding, and chased him away.
A man who spoke under anonymity to the Middle East Eye said“They saved a lot of lives by stopping the bomber from getting inside the mosque. They are both heroes.”
Sources say they both died as a result of injuries they sustained, when the suicide bomber detonated the explosives in the mosque car park.
