One of the sons of Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Ikemba Nnewi) the late leader of the defunct Biafra, Mr Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu has drawn the irk of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for allegedly claiming that the detained leader of the group and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr Nnamdi Kanu, is not the leader of IPOB.
The IPOB Media and Publicity Officer Mr Emma Powerful said while briefing journalists in Nnewi yesterday that the statement allegedly made by Mr Ojukwu shows that he is not properly informed about the movement and restoration of Biafra.
IPOB regretted that some-body from the family of the former Biafra warlord and leader, late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu or one of the sons made such a nasty statement. The group said it is very doubtful that the condemnable statement came from Late Ikemba Nnewi’s son stressing that such statement must not be coming from Ojukwu’s family let alone his son.
“We, IPOB worldwide know that Mr Debe Ojukwu works for Bilie Human Right Organisation that is known for having sympathy for All Progressives Congress (APC) government of Nigeria, he is not recognised in the affairs of Biafra, we know his position in Ojukwu family, so we do not blame him but what surprises us is that he claimed to have started IPOB. Nobody will take him serious with such claim, we know those that are influencing him to rubbish IPOB with such claim.
“The people influencing him to make the unguarded statements he is making have been cut to size by IPOB for making similar unguarded statements about IPOB, and Mr Nnamdi Kanu. We know where they are coming from, one of them who claimed to have led Ohaneze Ndigbo and now leader of Igbo elders forum from the same town have been tamed some weeks ago by IPOB and he can only talk by using people like Debe Ojukwu to try do more damage he could not do against IPOB and Mr Kanu.”
