Seven months ago I was delighted with the choice of Sunday Oliseh as the new Super Eagles coach after Stephen Keshiwas relieved of his job.I thought it was the beginning of something new for the Super Eagles. Here is an ex-international who played at the very top level, got his coaching courses, articulate and new media friendly. 'African Pep Guardiola' they called him, I was excited.
But Oliseh needs to be relieved of the Super Eagles job now as soon as possible. The job has clearly overwhelmed him and for his own good, he should be fired.
The signs came first in October 2015 during his fall-out with former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama which led to the subsequent retirement of the goalkeeper from the national team.
His arrogance and school boy attitude during that drama showed signs that the Super Eagles job was too big for PETTY Oliseh.
His pettiness reared its head again over the weekend when he uploaded a video on his Youtube page of him ranting about critics and his ex international colleagues.
Oliseh mentioned that he never wanted the Super Eagles job and that he rejected NFF's offer twice.
"I didn't beg for this job, I never wanted this job, I refused it twice and it took the intervention of a highly respected friend of mine who was in government for me to take this job," Oliseh said.
This is the number one reason why I want him out of the Super Eagles job. This is an inexperienced manager who has never coached a top side and the NFF were begging him to take the job?
This is ridiculous.
I lost hope on Oliseh when I read reports of his paranoia at the Super Eagles camp during the just concluded African Nations Championship in Rwanda.
The report quoted sources that revealed that the formerJuventus midfielder was always scared in camp during the tournamnet.
“He warned those fond of putting their hands in their pockets before shaking him to desist or keep their handshakes as he feared they touch objects concealed in their pockets before offering to shake him”, sources are quoted by the report.
This is really hard to believe. But taken into consideration how he tries to stay away from Nigeria, I think that report is not far from the truth.
The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria wants to do his job from Europe. He wasn't even with the Super Eagles Team B during their preparation for CHAN.
Sunday Oliseh needs help. It seems he needs help with his health, family and well being. The Super Eagles job is too big for him, relieving him of that post is a huge start for Oliseh's redemption.
