Ibrahim Magu EFCC boss confirms Okonjo-Iweala is being investigated, lists Diezani, Aluko too

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has named some of the officials of the immediate past administration currently being investigated by the anti-graft agency.
Speaking on Monday, February 8, during the budget defence session with the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes, Magu said former Minister of Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is being investigated in connection with corruption activities carried out during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
He said a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke and her close associate, Kola Aluko, are also on the EFCC investigation radar.
Aluko was allegedly used to move huge stolen funds out of the country.
Responding to questions by a member of the committee, Hon. Razak Atunwa,
“very soon, we will go into the petroleum industry", Magu said while responding to Hon. Razak Atunwa's question on whetherthe two  ex-ministers and Aluko were included in the EFCC investigative list.
“Such investigation requires that we have to build capacity, we have to bring in experts to enable us tackle what we are doing properly and the investigation must be conducted properly. We have internal lawyers and external lawyers, we have to pay insurance,” he added.
Earlier, the EFCC boss had asked the committee to consider and approve additional N500 million to assist the EFCC operational activities, noting that more sectors of the economy may come under investigation during the year.
