Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Evangelistic Church, has urged President Muhaamadu Buhari to be careful with his dealings with former president Goodluck Jonathan. The cleric said if their relationship is not carefully managed, it might boomerang on the Buhari led administration.
The primate stated that Goodluck Jonathan now enjoys the admiration from local international communities for stepping down peacefully after conceding defeat in the last election. He advised President Buhari against doing anything that would cast aspersion on the personality of Jonathan.
Even though a number of Jonathan's aide have been mired in corruption allegations, the cleric cautioned Buhari from politicization of the corruption war. He said if Buhari is not careful with Jonathan, he might "shoot himself on the leg."
“Buhari’s government will make a lot of efforts in terms of fight against corruption, he may not make much progress. In fact, he might shoot himself in the foot. Buhari has to be careful with Jonathan; it may turn around and boomerang. His corruption fight won’t go too far.
In fact, Buhari won’t be able to fight corruption as expected, corruption will weaken Buhari’s government; it’s not going to be easy for the president. It will cause inflation, prices of goods will go up, cost of living will rise and retrenchment will be rampant in all sectors. Life will be hard for Nigerians” said Primate Elijah Ayodele to Guardian News.
