THEY HAVE GUNS, I HAVE PRAYER!

THE power of prayer was yesterday added to military force to restore calm to troubled Mamelodi, east of Tshwane.
Bishop Pompolwane Malaza danced, sang and prayed in his robes with a reflector vest over them on Tsamaya Road, shouting out to passersby: “Let there be peace among you!”
The bishop told Daily Sun that he travelled from his home in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga, about an hour away from Mamelodi, when he heard about the recent clash between taxi operators and Autopax buses in the kasi.
He said: “I heard someone was shot and other people injured. I immediately came here to pray for peace. Violence must stop so all God’s children can stop suffering.”
A bishop of the Youth Church Apostolic Zion Ekuphumuleni, Pompolwane is known in his home town for his street preaching. He also preaches on trains and buses.
He said: “People in my area call me ‘Good Drive’ because I pray for safety and peace on the streets. I advise motorists to drive carefully.”
One happy motorist told the People’s Paper: “He’s great. We need God’s intervention to help us reach peace.”
The violence broke out last week when Autopax took over local bus routes from Putco. Taxi drivers and owners protested that they weren’t given the routes.
Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said: “The situation is currently quiet in the area. Operation Fiela is still continuing.”
