LATE on Sunday night, a local man allegedly raped her. So when the 17-year-old woman saw him on the streets of Spoko Park, outside Polokwane in Limpopo the following morning, she panicked and screamed for help.
That’s when an angry crowd cornered the suspected rapist and moered him with stones and weapons.
A woman, who was part of the crowd beating the man, said: “This man deserved serious punishment because it was not the first time he’d been accused of raping a woman in our area. Just last month, he was accused of raping a pregnant woman.
“He shouldn’t be living in our community because he’s a danger to people.
“He got what he deserved,” she told Daily Sun.
The crowd was so furious that they refused to let an ambulance and paramedics rescue the man.
Cops had to use force to rescue the suspect from the crowd.
But by then it was too late for the alleged rapist, who died at the scene.
Spokesman for Seshego police, Warrant Officer Mothemane Malefo said: “We have opened a case of murder and rape.
“No one has been arrested yet. Investigations continue.”
