SANGOMA'S (Herbalist) SHACK TORN DOWN!

FOR many years, the sangoma was feared by his neighbours and they tried to get rid of him with no success.
So when the news broke on Saturday that he had been arrested in connection with the rape of a 10-year-old girl, residents celebrated by demolishing his house and indumba!
While the house made from scrap metal in block MM of Soshanguve, Tshwane was being demolished, people helped themselves to the sangoma’s livestock. They found pigs, goats, dogs, rabbits and chickens on the property.
There were also rotting dead animals, which the residents said had been causing an unbearable smell.
When the SunTeam arrived on the scene, residents were helping themselves to the belongings of the sangoma, who they had nicknamed The Undertaker.
Samson Sibiya (53), a relative of the sangoma, told Daily Sun: “He was arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl after paying R500 in lobola to her father. When people heard, they started stealing his things. I tried to protect his belongings but I couldn’t do anything after residents started vandalising the house.
“They took the animals, slaughtered them and had a braai on Sunday night.”
Resident Kate Maseko (30) said: “We are happy his house has been destroyed. We all lived in fear of this man. He should be removed from society forever. He destroyed a little girl’s future.”
Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena of the Rietgat Police Station confirmed the arrest to the SunTeam. “This suspect has been arrested on a charge of rape and will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates Court soon. The victim has been taken to a place of safety and is getting counselling and support.”
