| The Prophet |
A PROPHET and a gospel singer worked well together. The prophet gained followers while the singer sold his music to people in Pondoland.
But their partnership has come to an end, allegedly over the issue of R500. Gospel singer Yongama Mrwetyana claims prophet Khanyisa Dlame of Lusikisiki is a fake.
“I don’t want people coming after me once they realise he’s a fake prophet. I have been hiding his lies long enough,” said Yongama. He claims prophet Khanyisa used him and other people to plant objects like tins filled with coffee in potential clients’ gardens and then during the church service he would “prophesy” that he was seeing what was causing the clients’ problems.
“He would tell people to look in their gardens to find out what was working against them.”
But the prophet has denied the claims, saying Yongama was trying to use him for money.
“I met Yongama when he was brought to me, very sick. I healed him and afterwards invited him to join my church,” Khanyisa said.
He claims Yongama would disappear after asking for money.
“In May, he asked for R500 and I refused to give it to him. If he says I’m fake, how could I have healed him? People have started walking because of my powers. If I was lying, how could I still be working here. People would have burnt down my church,” Khanyisa said.
Chief Mthuthuzeli Mgwedane of kwaKhonjwayo Village has allowed Khanyisa to put his church tent in his yard. He said: “I can’t stop a person doing God’s work.”
