Moses Zakwe feels insulted after finding more than 1 000 condoms dumped in his yard. The 41-year-old municipal worker from Esitebhisini Village in Bergville, KZN Midlands wants the provincial health department to punish the the person responsible.
Moses, who has a shop in his backyard, said a passer-by told him on Monday about condoms scattered in his yard.
“My yard is not a dump,” he said angrily.
“Kids were blowing the condoms up and playing with them as if they were balloons. They could have swallowed them.”
Moses reported the discovery to the nearby Oliviershook Clinic.
“A senior staff member told me the culprits who disposed of the condoms could be staff members tasked with distributing them in the village,” he said.
“She said they would launch an investigation as soon as possible so the culprits could be punished.”
Zakwe said later that clinic staff had cleaned up his yard.
KZN health spokesman Agiza Hlongwane said the department would investigate.
