A MPUMALANGA man found guilty of paying his neighbour’s daughter R2 after masturbating on her thighs, has been sentenced to seven years in jail.
Zakhele Mavuso (43) from Sibayeni Village near the Swazi and Mozambican border was sentenced at the Boschfontein Regional Court on Wednesday.
Magistrate Edgar Moletsane found Mavuso guilty on two charges of indecent assault.
He imposed a seven-year prison sentence for each count, but the sentences will run concurrently.
“I hope this sentence will teach you to respect the law and women in your area,” he said.
During Mavuso’s previous court appearance, Moletsane said the first incident happened back in 2007 when the girl, who is now 13, was only five.
He said Mavuso, who had pleaded not guilty, repeated the sexual act in 2013 when the girl was 11.
“During the first incident you put her in bed where you undressed yourself and her, then rubbed your penis on her thighs and near her vagina. She said you moved your penis up and down and gave her R2.”
He said Mavuso had planned this offence as he used to give the victim sweets, money and fruit when he called her to his room.
“I will put your name on the sex offenders register. You are not allowed to work with kids or under any circumstances where there are kids.” – AENS
