KGOTSO Matene is dead and buried but there’s no peace for him and his family.
A man who keeps digging up his grave in Botshabelo in the Free State was caught doing it again on Sunday.
The first time he was found was in February.
Makgotso Matene (65), the mum of Kgotso, who died aged 34, said the man claimed he was sent by two women to get bones for muthi (Medicine).
Makgotso fears her son’s spirit will find no peace until the gravedigger is locked up.
She can’t understand why he chose Kgotso’s grave.
“There are hundreds of other graves there,” she said.
Maine Molibeli of Molly’s Funeral Parlour, who organised Kgotso’s funeral in 2012, said what was being done to the family is wrong.
Sangoma Tefo Modise said some people mix muthi called tshita with the bones of dead people and use it to disturb the peace of their victims.
Lieutenant-Colonel Annelie Wrensch said a 25-year-old man was arrested and a case of desecrating a grave opened.
He will appear in court today.
Wrensch said the suspect has been bust before and was sent for mental observation. “The results will be considered during trial.”
The suspect was given bail after his first arrest and didn’t appear in court. A warrant of arrest was issued.
The mental test results are not yet available.
