KILLED FOR A GIRL!

     

THEY were best friends and did everything together – but today, one of them is dead and the other is behind bars!

Songezo Mabindla (20) was stabbed to death, allegedly by his best friend, at school on Monday during a fight over a girl.

The grade 12 pupil at Tsosoloso Secondary School in Midrand’s Ebony Park was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors. He died in the school’s staffroom.

Classmates who didn’t want to be named said the argument over Songezo’s girlfriend started in the classroom.

“He didn’t like the way his friend had treated his girlfriend and they started arguing,” said a matric pupil.

“We managed to calm the two down but the fight started again outside.”

Thabang Maile (20), who was friends with both the suspect and the victim, said he tried to intervene but was stabbed in the hand.

“A teacher tried to separate them but it was too late. I saw blood oozing from Songezo’s chest and he collapsed. He died in the staffroom while waiting for the ambulance,” Thabang said.

When questioned on the radio about the incident, Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi said he was very worried about the level of violence at schools.

Warrant Officer Nelda Sekgobela said a case of murder was opened at Ivory Park Police Station. The suspect will appear in the Tembisa Magistrates Court soon.
