'DUMPED WOMAN SETS BOYFRIEND’S HOUSE ABLAZE'

TWO men were lucky to escape death when a jealous, dumped woman allegedly set her boyfriend’s shack ablaze.
The fire spread from the lover’s shack to theirs – and both burned down.
The men lost all their possessions in the flames.
Penjani Chimaliro (37) and his friend John Chiwirikira (27) were asleep in Joburg’s Diepsloot extension 2 when the next door shack was torched at about midnight this Sunday.
“I was asleep when I smelled something burning,” said Penjani. “My shack was full of smoke. I woke my friend. We had to leave everything to be eaten by flames.”
The two men lost passports, food, clothes and appliances. Their landlord put them up in his RDP house for the rest of the night.
Neighbours said the woman blamed for the fire was a “troublesome beer drinker” who had allegedly tried to do the same thing before. They claimed she phoned her former boyfriend and sent him messages threatening to burn down his shack.
On his return from work he found he had lost everything in his shack.
Diepsloot’s Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela said a case of arson was being investigated.
