COP HELD FOR DAUGHTER'S RAPE.

A Cape Town Metro Police officer, charged with raping his own daughter, resigned on Friday.
The 41-year-old suspect, who is from Grabouw, was arrested on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesperson FC Van Wyk confirmed the 17-year-old victim was allegedly forced to have sex with a 41-year-old suspect.
“The suspect... appeared in the Grabouw Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday May 5 and was released on R2 000 bail. [The case has been] remanded until June 17,” he said.
The incident reportedly took place last Saturday in the house the teen shares with her father,
The City of Cape Town’s executive director for safety and security Richard Bosman confirmed the officer resigned with immediate effect on Friday, which has since been accepted.
“He had not returned to work after his arrest and court appearance,” Bosman told News24.
Had the officer not resigned, he would have been suspended pending internal disciplinary procedures and the outcome of the court case, Bosman added.
