PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma was locked in talks for hours yesterday following the aftermath of deadly attacks on foreigners.
The country’s migration policy was on the agenda at the summit at Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Tshwane.
The meeting was attended by a range of stakeholders, including ministers, trade unions leaders, and representatives of organised business, civil society, social development sectors, as well as religious and sporting bodies. Another topic of discussion was how various sectors could work with government to promote orderly migration and good relations between citizens and foreigners. According to the presidency, Zuma intends to build lasting partnerships with stakeholders in the country to ensure that attacks on foreigners don’t recur.
Zuma has also established a ministerial task team to look at all aspects of migration.
