Adamawa State House of Assembly has declared the seats of three members vacant for defecting to other political parties.

Speaker of the Assembly Hon Ahmadu Fintiri who made the announcement Wednesday during plenary cited section 108 of the constitution pointing out that the affected members, Umar Abdulkarim (PDM-Nasarawo/Binyeri), Hamman Tukur (PDM-Jada/Mbulo) and Adamu Usman (APC-Toungo) where elected to the House under PDP but defected to other parties to contest in the last general election.
Fintiri who also condemned his purported impeachment on Tuesday by nine lawmakers, who sat at Government House Yola, constituted a five man committee to investigate them and submit it report on Monday for necessary action.
Meanwhile another set of nine lawmakers who recognises Jerry Kundisi (PDP Gombe) as their Speaker had a parallel sitting at the Government House conference hall described the actions taken by Fintiri as “illegal”, adding that his group would move their sitting to the House of Assembly complex on Monday.
They had conducted their sitting on Tuesday at the same venue where purportedly impeached Fintiri as Speaker and elected Kundisi to replace him.
Security has been beefed up at the Adamawa house of assembly complex.
The Kundisi led faction was however setback in their plot as four out of the nine lawmakers loyal to him has through a press statement today denied been part of the impeachment saga.
They are Hon Ishag Bala Mohammed representing Yola North, Hon Hassan Kaigama representing Maiha, Hon Michael Zidon Lamurde and Hon Abdulsallam Juggal representing Shelleng constituencies.
